Camping Huttopia Wattwiller

We spent 3 days in this camping and would like to come back already! It’s really great place with everything you need. We stayed in chalet with 3 bedrooms and definitely enjoyed every day, all mobile homes are modern, comfortable and well equipped. There are different options of accommodations, it’s even hard to choose which one you like more. The pool area with 3 pools is really nice. Big pools were quite warm, and only baby pool was the coldest. There is a playground near the pool, but I would make it more interesting, maybe put some toys, Bobby cars, tractors, etc, to make it more fun for small children. It’s just perfect that Camping is in the green forest, with lots of shadows, really helpful in hot weather. There is a restaurant, with some limited options. Unfortunately the cafe is not available all the time, and some days you can not buy ice cream around afternoon. We liked the option to order in advance for tomorrow the bakery (was super tasty). So for relaxing and active short or long vacation it’s best option we tried in Austria, Deutschland, Switzerland, Italy. For this price it’s best quality/service.

We loved our first trip to a Huttopia site at Wattwiller this week. It’s a great location for camping with young children and very well set up for families. We’d heard a lot online about the beautiful forest location, facilities and activities available on site. The forest is a tiered sloped site with mostly level gravel pitches. Our pitch was nice and close to the top. I wouldn’t want to have parked any lower down the hill as it would have been quite a walk to the pool and cafe. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay. My kids enjoyed the horse rising next door a lot. We will almost certainly visit another Huttopia in future. To be honest there are few things that we would change about this site if we could. The washrooms were very clean but the paths and steps getting to them are quite broken and bumpy. Perhaps it was just the end of the season but there were quite a few small areas of maintenance that need attention around the site. We’d also hoped that the indoor pool would have been heated. All three pools were just a little too cold for our kids and that limited our time using them. One final piece of feedback is that I’d love to see more speed restrictions (our just signage) for vehicles around the site. It sometimes felt as though cars were driving quite fast through the site so we didn’t feel that comfortable letting our kids wander around freely. Overall, we thought it was a brilliant camping experience and we loved the vision of Huttopia. We can’t wait to see how these types of sites develop in future.

Spent a stopover night here on the way to Germany, the best thing I can say is that the showers are great and sanitaires are spotless, other than that it’s not very vehicle friendly, very steep inclines and a real effort to walk up to reception or to the sanitary station, pitches were flat but very muddy, it rained a lot during our nights stay and I was worried about getting up the incline with our camper + trailer in the wet slippery conditions, in the dry summer it might be a better experience but not for us we won’t be returning.
